“In situ” is Latin for “in the natural place.” As the name of our blog, this term refers to the idea of bringing international justice and trial proceedings home to affected communities.
The Coalition’s blog endeavors to help bridge the gap between populations affected by the crimes under the Court’s investigation and the ICC’s daily activities at its headquarters in The Hague. In Situ features posts by some of our more than 2,500 members in 150 countries around the world. In our blog discussions we will share the perceptions, hopes and fears of national populations about ICC’s and national courts’ efforts to eradicate impunity for grave crimes. We hope to facilitate a direct dialogue between our members on the ground, international justice experts and interested members of the broader public.
