Coalition Discusses Key Challenges With ICC

Coalition members from around the world have traveled to The Hague this week to participate in the 19th roundtable meeting with the ICC. Over the course of four days, discussions are taking place with all organs of the Court on its investigations and other activities, key challenges and lessons learned. These unique meetings are a valued and critically important forum for civil society and the Court to engage in issues of common interest and finds means to advance the fight against impunity through the Rome Statute system.

ICC Prosecutor Bensouda Presents Latest Report on Darfur to UN Security Council

At a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on 5 June, ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda delivered the OTP's seventeenth report on the situation in Darfur, Sudan. Bensouda provided an update on the preparation for the trial of Banda and Jerbo and reiterated her concern about the lack of cooperation in the arrest of ICC suspects. She indicated that serious crimes continue to be committed in Darfur and expressed frustration at the UNSC’s inaction to enforce its Resolution 1593 which referred the Darfur situation to the ICC.
