Coalition for the ICC Malaysia held a meeting with stakeholders to strengthen its work
The Chairperson of CICC Malaysia, Usha Kula, organized the meeting with an aim to jointly strengthen the work towards the accession and ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The meeting included planning, discussing and strategizing on all future projects and initiatives for CICC Malaysia, with stakeholders.
Ms. Kula stated that “Our ultimate goal is to help Malaysia accede and ratify the Rome Statute of the ICC.”
The CICC Malaysia Project, that aims to work towards Malaysia’s ratification of the Rome Statute, continues to closely work with CSOs and grass-root NGOs to spread awareness about the ICC work and its significance and to garner support towards the ratification of the Rome Statute.
“Meeting with CSOs and NGOs was fruitful as we were able to not only showcase our work and activities but also collaborate with them to reach a common goal,” Ms. Kula continued.
Ms. Kula emphasised the critical need to work with stakeholders; and collaborate with, the State's Attorney-General's Chambers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office.
“We soon plan to organize a Panel Discussion with relevant stake-holders and raise important issues that will help in reaching consensus towards Malaysia’s ratification. And to reach our goal, the CICC Malaysia will continue to strongly advocate and strengthen its outreach program,” Ms. Kula concluded.
The CICC Malaysia plans to organize more such meetings in the coming months and strengthen its work towards global justice.
